One of the global commitments of the 2030 Agenda underlines the importance of creating effective and transparent institutions that make inclusive and participatory decisions according to people’s and territories needs. The 16th goal promotes “Peace, justice and strong institutions” and recognizes that “without peace, stability, human rights and effective governance based on the rule of law, it is not possible to achieve sustainable development”. The objective of this seminar is to provide a debate framework to foster new perspectives and ideas on the creation of resilient cities to defend freedom and fundamental rights, based on the strengthening of participatory democracy.
